About Me

My name is Anne Emberline. By day, I am a freelance graphic designer and website-making nerd, and by night I rock out with my band Emberline, singing and playing guitar.
My educational background is in visual arts. While at school, I focused on two areas: drawing and digital/computer art, which is where my training in graphics and webdesign comes from. I graduated with distinction in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Certificate in Writing.
I’ve been doing graphic design and making websites for five years. I code all the websites that I make by hand in XHTML and CSS, which means that I open up a plain text editor and hand write the code that makes the website work. Code is crazy and frustrating at times, but it is also logical (ahh, logic!) and fun to create with. For graphics and print projects, I work mainly in Adobe Photoshop and use a Wacom pen tablet.
One of my favourite parts of the design process is scouring stock photo sites for awesome textures to use. I love texture!
One of my least favourite parts of the design process is when I’m coding a website and I accidentally forget to put in one of these things: < - What are they even called? I don’t know, but let me tell you, if you forget one of those in your code, all hell will break loose. Fortunately, I am a careful typist, so this doesn’t happen too often.
